Oak Tree of Peover, Cheshire
I’ve been coming back to this lovely Cheshire wedding venue for years, and I still love working there. It used to be part of the Peover Golf Club, but about three or four years ago the owners decided to close the course, and concentrate on weddings and events. I’m terrible at golf, so I can’t really comment on that. But I think now that it’s specialised on weddings, the venue is better than ever from the point of view of the brides and grooms, and also for wedding videographers!
Getting Ready in the Bridal Suite
The Bridal Suite at the Oak Tree of Peover is a lovely quiet spacious room for brides and their entourage to get ready in. It includes showers, changing rooms and a full length mirror, and is much larger than a typical hotel suite. When I began filming as Victoria and the girls were getting ready, there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Filming the Wedding Ceremony in the Acorn Lounge
The Acorn Lounge is the largest room at The Oak Tree of Peover, it has huge windows on 3 sides as well as sky lights, flooding the room with fantastic light. As a wedding videographer, I love this natural lighting, it’s a rare treat. With a venue like this I like to have a camera at the back of the room, in addition to my main camera to the side at the front. I was able to capture a lovely shot of Victoria entering the room as well as the emotional reaction from Gareth.
Photographs and Evening Reception
I was working with Adam Roberts for the first time at this wedding. He’s a really nice guy to work with, and definitely one of the best up-and-coming photographers in the Cheshire area. The photography session was nice and relaxed, as it should be. That set us up for a great, fun, afternoon of meal, speeches and evening partying. As the Acorn Lounge is turned around the guests can relax outside and in the spacious bar area, giving me and Adam plenty of opportunities for reportage shots of everyone having a great time.
