In over eleven years as a wedding videographer, I have to say that Tower Hill Barns is genuinly one of the nicest and best thought through venues I’ve been to. It’s situated near Llangollen, about 45 minutes from the Wirral and Liverpool. The owners, Sally and Andrew, refurbished and extended it in 2015. So it combines original details as well as the best in contempory features. The layout includes a large hospitality area and bar, as well as the original barn (for ceremonies and the evening party) and the new extensively glazed barn for the wedding breakfast.
It reminded me a lot of a similar venue in Cheshire, Owen House Wedding Barn, where I filmed Holly and Patrick’s wedding a few months ago.
Glesni and the bridesmaids were able to get ready in the Farm House behind the main venue buildings. It’s been renovated to a very high standard, making it a lovely relaxing setting for starting your wedding day. This all made for a lovely relaxed atmosphere. One of the highlights of any wedding day is when the father of the bride sees his daughter in her dress for the first time. It’s a really emotional moment and Glesni’s reaction was lovely to see.
In the summer, it’s possible to have an outdoor ceremony at Tower Hill Barns, as there’s a purpose built area set asside with pews and a cover incase of a shower. Even with the mild weather we’re having right now though, that would be a bit chilly in December. The Old Barn is a fantastic setting though, with pews and a pulpit, like being in anĀ old church.
After getting married in the Old Barn, Glesni and Dewi went outside for photographs and drinks. The outdoor space at Tower Hill Barns hes been really well thought out. In the evening there is a fire pit and hundreds of fairy lights creating an enchanting atmosphere. Despite being on New Years Eve, Glesni and Dewi had really mild weather so they could go outside for drinks and photographs.
The wedding breakfast was a traditional Christmas dinner, with turkey and all the trimmings. Glesni and Dewi kindly arranged for me and the photographer Stacy to have be fed as well, so I was well fed while putting together the Same Day Edit film for the evening. I played the wedding video on my big HD projector screen just before the first dance in the evening. Celebrating New Years Eve in style.
