I’ve been filming weddings since 2007, and started offering Same Day Edit videography a few years ago. It’s my favourite package, to be honest, it’s so nice to see the bride and groom enjoying their film in the evening with all their guests. Leah and Jonathon chose to have a Same Day Edit film for their Stirk House wedding yesterday in Lancashire (the same day Harry and Meghan got married). So here it is:
While everyone’s watching the film in the evening, I like to have one of my cameras setup to record their reactions. As you can see, the projector and screen are usually setup on the dance floor. This works really well as attracts all the wedding guests to the dance floor area so that they’re there for the cutting of the cake and first dance. This film shows the Same Day Edit film alongside the film of the guests viewing it:
Leah and Jonathon’s wedding was my first one at Stirk House. I really liked this place. Very helpful and friendly staff, beautiful Ribble Valley setting, and fantastic venue combining contemporary luxury with a huge amount of history. The house dates back to 1635, built using stonework from the former Sawley Abbey. After a major refurbishment in 1950, it became a hotel, and popular wedding venue. The hotel has actually put together a short film on its history if you like that sort of thing:
With Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding at 12:00, and Leah and Jonathon’s at 1:30, it was inevitable that Leah and her bridesmaids would have the TV on while they were getting ready. The royal couple of course had the worlds press and TV crews from around the globe to deal with. I think Leah had a much preferable combination of myself and the lovely Lottie, the wedding photographer.
The room was beautifully presented and packed with excited guests as Leah made her way down the aisle. The far end of the room opens to the outside so Leah was able to get some fresh air outside before the ceremony begun.
After the ceremony everybody spilled outside to enjoy the sunny weather. Leah and Jonathon had opted for our drone photography add-on. I filmed some clips using our Magic Pro quadcopter, as well as using it to capture some still images which were sent to Lottie for inclusion with the rest of the wedding photographs.
Despite being based on the Wirral, I often film weddings in the Lancashire area as well as further afield. Here’s Kirsty and Steven’s wedding at the Gibbon Bridge Hotel, and Katy and Dan at the Fisherman’s Retreat.
